Installation Instructions:

🪵 1. Prepare the Space

Remove baseboards and trim (you’ll reinstall later)
Remove existing flooring
Clean the subfloor thoroughly
Check the subfloor:
Must be flat (within ~3/16″ over 10 ft)
Screw down any loose areas to eliminate squeaks
Check moisture levels (important in humid climates or over crawlspaces)

📏 2. Acclimate the Wood

Bring flooring into the room 3–7 days before installation
Open boxes and let wood adjust to the room’s temperature and humidity
Keep HVAC running under normal living conditions

📐 3. Plan Layout & Snap a Line

Start along the longest, straightest wall
Snap a chalk line to keep your first row straight
Leave a 1/2″ expansion gap along all walls (use spacers)

🔨 4. Install the First Rows

Lay boards with the tongue facing out
First row:
Face nail near the wall (this will be covered by trim)
Blind nail through the tongue
Stagger end joints at least 6–8 inches

🧰 5. Install the Main Field

Use a flooring nailer to secure boards
Nail every 8–10 inches and within 2–3 inches of board ends
Continue staggering joints randomly
Mix boards from different boxes to balance color variation

✂️ 6. Install the Final Rows

Measure and rip boards to fit the remaining space
Use a pry bar to tighten boards into place
Face nail the last row (like the first row)

🧹 7. Finish the Job

Remove spacers
Reinstall baseboards and trim to cover expansion gaps
Fill nail holes with matching wood putty
Clean the floor (avoid water immediately after install)
